Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English Literature. Mitchell began her career as a radio and TV reporter within Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed situated in Washington DC. A few years later, she was general correspondent for NBC News in Washington. In 1981 she started working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. When she joined NBC News in 1992, Mitchell was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist during the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her role in the defense from the infringement of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a wide range of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently along with President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world presidents.
